Well, graduation was great, finding out that I got a “real” job (the kind where I can ask about medical benefits without being handed a toothbrush) was great as well. I’ve got about a week before my start date so I’ve decided to do something fun.

Something, in this case, is going on a trip. To San Fransisco in fact.  I’ve never traveled there before, Airport terminals aside I’ve got Amtrak reservations so I can take the Train down anyhow. I’m hoping to eat dinner in an actual dining car either on the way over or on the return trip. I’ve heard that its really fun and it’ll probably be better than a cardboard cup of soup or a hot dog; the next best availible options mid-nonflight.

The trip will be epic. The train portion will take 17 hrs (which includes some sleep time) and then there will be a ~40 minute bus ride to arrive at the Wharf. I have youth hostel reservations at the Wharf, which is near many of the cool areas to see.

May 13

So last night was my birthday and I celebrated by means of going out to have sushi. I ended up going with 3 of my friends (Barry, Chris, and Craig) to the Todai sushi restaurant in Portland. The whole thing was “quite delish”.

So the big thing about Todai is that it is an all-you-can-eat sushi place. The other big thing is that on your birthday, you get to eat there for free! I wound up trying over a dozen different kinds of rolls that night. There was also a good deal of sashimi, and it was quite fresh and tasty (good sashimi is delicious, bad sashimi less so).  They also served a variety of other good foods, such as Orange chicken and tempura Udon.

I discovered that day two things about Tempura Sushi: 1.) Tempura sushi exists and 2.) It’s quite delicious.

Couple that with how I just had my last final (or final final, if you will) today, so now all that’s left is to graduate or something this Saturday. With school over I’ll have some more time for writeups here, so I hope to post reviews, or progress reports on some projects I’ve been working on.

A summer cold?

Good times are definitely ahead. It’s sunny, and also May, aka the beginning of summer. And… I have a cold (woot). Huzzah for nonconformity!

In spite of it (the cold) I was able to make it to a barbeque with my friends last Sunday. There was much meat and rejoicing; particularly the outdoor cooked, fresh caught (and then frozen) samlon, along with pork chops and assorted bits of chicken. Truly a great way to start the season.

I’ve accumulated the target number of hours that I needed to complete my Cleanwater Services internship. I’m still working there but its nice that I’ve met my goal before the end of classes. I just have to give a speech for it tomorrow.
